Jason Lutes' artwork is in the building

Original artwork for a book? We almost never see it around here anymore, now that everything is digital. Oh, it still happens from time to time: Seth, of course, prefers the old school method. And then there was the time, about a year ago, when Lynda Barry came to town with a couple of suitcases full of her art.

So, it was a particular delight to see Jason Lutes' artwork show up here in the office, at some point between Christmas and New Year. 24 pages of sturdy bristol board for the new issue of Berlin (the photo above shows Jason's artwork at left, next to an earlier issue of Berlin at right).

Jason is the consummate professional. Did you know that there is not a single use of "white out" on any of these 24 pages? Pen to paper for close to a couple of hundred panels, all done with flawless efficiency.

Here's a few single-panel close-ups to give you a better idea...

Berlin #18 is at the printer now (yes, our first book of 2012 is a pamphlet) and will be in comics stores on Wednesday, February 8th.
