Ex Libris opens tonight at the Adam Baumgold Gallery, 60 East 66th St., New York. It is a celebration of book-related art and features 28(!) artists, some of whom are D+Q authors, but all of whom are wonderful visual artists. With work from Chris Ware, Seth, Charles Burns, Maira Kalman, David Hockney, Ed Ruscha, Chip Kidd and Renee French, this is not to be missed.
Whether they are painting on book covers, immortalizing book stacks, designing new covers for books, or just portraying the presence of books in our lives, the artists on display rejoice in the vital relationship between book and art.
If you miss the opening tonight (from 6 to 8 pm), do not fret! The exhibition is up for a month - January 26th to February 26th.
