Movie News: New Star Wars Series, LucasArts and RIP Roger Ebert.

There is some good and bad news for Star Wars fans: The good news is that David Filoni (creator of the Clone Wars) is working on a new Star Wars animated series! However, no details were revealed but I assume it will take place either around the up-coming trilogy or between Ep. III and IV, both options could turn out fantastic. If the series were to take place between Ep. III and IV, some of the surviving characters from The Clone Wars could have staring roles in the series. Fan favorite characters like Ahsoka and Starkiller could have parts in the series, which would be awesome! A series set around the new trilogy would be a smart move on Disney's part in that it will help promote the new Trilogy, but could create some limitations trying not to interfere with the series' cannon. It is great to see Disney trying to make another animated series, because The Clone Wars not only gave fantastic Star Wars storylines, it made Star Wars relevant again after the Prequel trilogy. Although an Old Republic series would be my preferred TV series, it is highly unlikely. Now for the bad news, Disney disbands LucasArts, the creator of many great Star Wars video games throughout the years and has put Star Wars 1313 on hold indefinitely. While I was looking forward to 1313, it probably would end of up being something mediocre since most third-person shooters not made by the big game developers turn out poorly. However, they have said that they want to let third party developers create new Star Wars games, which could be awesome! My preferred scenario is that BioWare makes another Star Wars, except not an MMO and more along the lines of the best video game ever made, Mass Effect. Not entirely sure if the main character should be a Jedi or something similar to Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic would make for the best Star Wars game yet.

For other movie related news, famous film critic Roger Ebert passed on a few days ago, RIP. He was an innovator in the world of film critics and inspired many to become film critics themselves. Not to disrespect him, his opinions rarely appealed to me and often focused on the "Art House" films but still had favorable reviews of Star Wars and Indiana Jones.
