Dan Kois Delivers A Stellar Review of THE DEATH-RAY

"One of the signature comics stories of our time."–Dan Kois, NPR

Dan Kois provides a stunningly cogent review of THE DEATH-RAY for the NPR book page. My favorite part of his review is what he does focus on--teen age rage and what he doesn't focus on--superheroes. There's only a passing sentence about that genre, as Kois decides to zero right in on the heart of the book and delivers what is the best two sentence summation of Clowes' work we may ever see:

"{The Death-Ray is} really not meant to thrill. It's meant to unnerve. Clowes takes his conceit seriously, and so do his characters, exploring the knotty and discomfiting intersection of teen angst and unexpected power."
