D+Q at San Diego Comicon

Say what you will about San Diego, and everyone always has something to say, there is no other con that is better organized, directed and supporter of the comic book medium than Comic-Con International. How they put it all together boggles my mind. Every year the complaints are the same, "too big", "too Hollywood", "too cosplay", though there is yet to be any other annual festival in North America of this size and magnitude that goes out of its way to invite special guests like Adrian Tomine, Rutu Modan, Lynda Barry, Kim Dietch, Jim Woodring, not to mention Al Jaffee and Sergio Aragones at one show and makes sure that the show is affordable to independent publishers. The staff is incredibly helpful, emails and calls get answered. It's not just a job nor a new *hot* revenue stream, you can tell that the CCI staff actually like comics.

D+Q has its endcap booth #1529,and as you can see from the handy reference map that Dylan from Sparkplug made, I believe most indy companies are located near one another. This year D+Q will feature signings by James Sturm, Lynda Barry, Rutu Modan, and Adrian Tomine.
